I believe it was last Friday that the beautiful weather we had been having was changing. In the car on the way to school, I shared with the kids that I was feeling kind of bummed because of it. It is no secret I love the sun. As quickly as I could get the words out about the “bad news,” Hayden corrected me with great wisdom. He said, “Mamma, we need to be thankful for what God gives us in all situations.” He was right. The plants need the rain. The beautiful green we see everywhere doesn’t happen by itself. It was amazing how his logic stuck with me and carried me through a situation that I needed to find good in because selfishly I struggled to see the good. I took Hayden’s advice, though, and I made myself find the good. I even made myself play the thankful game. I do this with the kids. We list all the blessings in our lives and then whatever we were feeling bummed about feels so small compared to all the wonderful things in our lives.
I’m proud of Hayden. He is so wise. I kind of can’t believe that my little boy is at an age where I’m taking his advice. This just goes to show that investing in your kids pays off. Taking the time to walk them through their problems is so key. I just love being a mom. More specifically I love being Hayden and Pemberley’s mom. I am blessed, even in the rain.
